Perimenopause: The Girl Talk We Need.

When most people hear the word "menopause," they think of women in their 50s whose periods have stopped. What they don’t realize is that *perimenopause*—a distinct phase—can begin as early as age 35, long before menopause sets in. You still have your period, and yes, you can still get pregnant. But despite its early onset and unique symptoms, many women don’t even know perimenopause exists.

Perimenopause is a Silent Problem for Many Women

It’s shocking how little we women are told about perimenopause. This lack of information often leads to unnecessary suffering. Women report experiencing irregular periods, anxiety, brain fog, and sleep disturbances—yet they’re often dismissed or misdiagnosed by healthcare providers. Instead of being given the knowledge and tools they need, they’re handed anxiety meds or told they’re just “stressed.”

The reality? Perimenopause is a natural part of life, but without understanding its symptoms or how to manage them, women are left confused and frustrated. It’s time to break the silence and empower women to take control of their health.

5 Ways to Take Action for Yourself and the Women in Your Life

1. Educate Yourself. Learn about the signs and symptoms of perimenopause. Understanding what’s happening in your body is the first step to advocating for your health.

2. Talk About It. Start conversations with the women in your life—friends, sisters, mothers. The more we share, the more we normalize this natural phase and reduce the stigma.

3. Advocate at the Doctor’s Office. Don’t accept vague answers or dismissals. If you suspect perimenopause, ask for a comprehensive discussion about your symptoms and treatment options.

4. Explore Natural and Medical Solutions. There are lifestyle changes, supplements, and hormone therapies that can help. Find what works for you, and don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion if needed.

5. Take the NNABI Quiz. Take the quiz (see in the above navigation) to understand where you are in your perimenopause journey. It’s a quick way to gain insights and take control of your well-being.

Perimenopause doesn’t have to be a mystery. By spreading awareness and taking action, we can ensure women get the support and care they deserve during this transformative stage of life.
